Pavel Durov spoke about plans to implement a Web3 marketplace in Telegram
TON ecosystem elements such as domain names, channels, stickers and emoticons will be able to be sold on the marketplace based on the TON blockchain.
Pavel Durov spoke about plans to implement a Web3 marketplace into the Telegram ecosystem. The founder of the messenger was inspired by the success of the recently held auction of the TON platform, which featured “.ton” top-level domain names and wallets. Wallet.ton sold for about $260,000 and casino.ton sold for about $244,000.
Durov thinks Telegram, with its 700 million users, could also auction off reserved usernames, links to groups and channels. In addition, catchy addresses such as @storm or @royal and all four-letter usernames may be available for sale.
On the new platform, name holders could communicate using smart contracts. Other elements of the Telegram ecosystem, including channels, stickers or emojis, may later become part of this market as well, Durov said.
According to him, the team intends to use TON as the underlying blockchain for their project. The possibility of adding Web 3.0 to Telegram will be considered in the coming weeks.
