tl;dr: Risk Labs, the foundation and core team behind UMA, is awarding a series of grants to developers who build tooling, support and educational products and services to better support those who wish to build on the UMA protocol. The total grant pool is an estimated $100K and the program runs until Dec. 31, 2022.

Grants program aims to develop “middle ware” for builders

The success of UMA and our optimistic oracle (OO) will depend largely on effective integrations and creative build cases with partners and collaborators from around the Web3 ecosystem.

A key part of that success will be sparked by the creation of effective “middle ware” for the OO. Think of this middle ware as educational content, tools or support services to developers — or even in-person support for builders at hackathons who are building something using the OO.

It’s about coming up with solutions to make our OO and associated contracts as easy as possible for developers to use.

To support this effort, Risk Labs is offering individual grants to a maximum value of $10k paid in $UMA to provide tooling, support and educational products and services to better support those who wish to build on the UMA protocol.

The total grant pool is estimated at US$100k equivalent.

Applications for these grants are now open and will remain open until Dec. 31, 2022 or until grant funds are exhausted. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis at the discretion of the Risk Labs team.

What If I’m a hacker who is already building on UMA?

If you’re a hacker who has already developed a nascent product using UMA’s optimistic oracle, there are few steps you can take to proceed with your project. We’re here to make recommendations and help with things like:

  • Connecting builders to third-party grants
  • Providing introductions to investors and venture capital providers
  • Linking builders and developers up with incubators that specialize in various skill development like marketing, design, team scaling, etc.

Reach out with any questions and tell us more about what you want to build via Twitter, or join us on Discord and keep an eye on UMA’s channels.

About UMA

UMA is an optimistic oracle (OO) that can verify any statement proposed on the blockchain. It tells smart contracts “things about the world” so contracts and markets asking for that data can be settled. The OO has been called “a human-powered truth machine” because it is flexible enough to handle ambiguity and expands what can be built in Web3.
