Community Update #1 : December Bulletin
Dear Umbala Network Community,
In this update, we are covering some of our key activities during the last three weeks.
At the end of November, Umbala team attended two big events for the Blockchain community. The first one was KAMBRIA VIETNAM MEETUP: Blockchain Investment & Real World Applications Landscape on 25/11 in Hochiminh city.
This is not only an event where Kambria provided in-depth information and latest updates about its project but also an opportunity for the community to discuss current issues of the crypto market. Along with Mr. Thuc Vu — CEO of Kambria and Mr. Hai Ho — CEO of Triip Protocol, Mr. Don Thao Nguyen was a panelist of the topic ‘real-world applications landscape’. In this panel discussion, he shared Umbala Network’s solution for the scalability problem: a Blockchain encourages DApps to empower the network. The mechanism is done by a Reputation Scoring Engine scoring all accounts on Blockchain. (You can learn more about our new consensus algorithm here)

The second event was the Hackathon State of Chain 2018 taking place in Hochiminh city from 30/11 to 02/12. Mr. Don Thao Nguyen participated in this event as a guest speaker and judge of the hackathon. When asked about the status of Blockchain technology & cryptocurrency market, he shared: “Bearish market allows us to take a step back, think carefully and grab the chance of the groundbreaking technology in the most effective way later on”. Along with that, our CTO, Mr. Ryan Hung Pham delivered a presentation on ‘Blockchain Evolution’. From his perspective, the development of Blockchain technology through 3 generations at the moment is just like that of cell phones in 200x — 2010. Now, in 2018, cell phones, in the form of smartphones, has gained mass adoption from all folks in the world. This means that there will be lots of room for development for Blockchain technology, Ryan believes.
December was kicked off with a talk show about women in the era of technology 4.0, occurring on the 02/12 in Hanoi. Our Community Manager — Mr. Jason Vuong Le attended and gave the audience a basic introduction to Blockchain, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Also earlier this month at Sai Gon office, Umbala Network was delighted to have the Investment Manager of OKEx Capital — Mr. Vicent in a one-on-one casual meeting. We discussed potential cooperation opportunities and look forward to upcoming partnerships between both sides.
After that, on the 06/12, Umbala Network team including CEO Don Thao Nguyen and CTO Ryan Hung Pham attended Vietnam Web Summit by TopDev as Blockchain speakers and panelists. The main focus of Ryan’s talk was the new consensus algorithm named 108DPoR developed by Umbala Network, and how it helps build a performance-focus and highly-scalable Blockchain accelerating many eye vision computing business models. We also joined the event in Hanoi on the 13/12. Here, our Hanoi Tech Leader Tuan Nguyen delivered a presentation with the same topic as Ryan’s.
Following a series of Blockchain events, our CEO was invited to Future Foundation for Enterprise Administration as panelist speaker. At this conference, Mr. Don shared many use cases of Blockchain in terms of Enterprise Administration. The highlight of his talk was camera-based business models which are projected to be massively popular in many industries in the next few years. By the time of 2020, there will be 44 billion cameras all over the world, leading to the fact there will be 4–5 cameras surrounding each individual person.
And most recently, last week, we have become the Strategic Media partner of Vietnam Blockchain Day Season 2 — an event hosted by Bigcoinvietnam taking place at Grand Plaza, Hanoi on the Dec 16th. Although the Umbala team did not participate as speakers, we supported our utmost to help spread the words about the event among the tech community. Before the event day, our Community Manager Jason also joined the Private night for VIP guests, along with top leaders, investors, and experts of the Blockchain industry.
The last three weeks were an eventful period of time to Umbala team. We are now sprinting to complete the last goals of 2018. In the next update, we will cover this year’s milestones and speak peek our plan for 2019.
