Our CEO, Flávio Cardoso, before starting the Battle

Tomorrow, The Next Web (TNW) will take place, once again, in Amsterdam. We still remember what a great experience it was for us to participate last year in such a great event. We could join the Battle of the Startups to show thousands of digital minds what had accomplished in Brazil through Umbler, the platform that has been making developers’ lives easier since 2015.

This year, we would wish to be there again, but the ambitious projects we are running right now have kept us in our hometown. However, we will keep an eye on the event to bring you the latest news and anecdotes of these two amazing days. On the 24th and the 25th of this month, the world is going to witness the latest trends in technology and innovation happening in Amsterdam.

Let’s review a bit what happened last year, before we introduce what is expected in this edition.

Perhaps you have already checked the news portal of The Next Web. It is a great space to get updated about all the advances in technology. However, behind this huge project, there is one of the largest and most important events in technology celebrated in Europe. Last year, some of Umbler’s co-workers had the great chance to participate in TNW. It was also our first experience outside South America. First contact with other markets and a global audience, investors, other startups, creative minds and geniuses in the world of technology. All that in two intensive days to connect more than 15,000 attendees from all over the world. Doubtless, this is the best chance for those who want to go international and cross the ocean.

What were we doing there?

It has been a while since we decided to go global. Let’s be clear. We were born to be global. And we are sure that we have the product and the service that developers, not only here in South America, but also in Europe, need. We were looking for ways to get closer to the tech audience in Europe, know what their pains are, what were they looking for, what did they expect from a hosting provider.

And here you are.

If you want to conquer the world, you need to know better your potential audience, their interests and demands. And, if that means taking a 12 hour flight destined to Amsterdam, we are willing to do it!

Going a step further, we were chosen to participate in the Battle of Startups event. This space opens the stage to startups to introduce themselves and present their products and projects in front of investors, developers, and other influencers of this amazing ecosystem. We strongly recommend the experience to get in touch with consultants and advisors within the startup world who can advise you about the best moment to start going global. Summing up, here are the main reasons that justify why to attend such a large, international a event:

  • Get closer to your potential audience by going out of your comfort zone. Witness what is going on in the other part of the world
  • Network with amazing startups who are on the same page as you
  • Get advice and guidance from experts and investors
  • Make fruitful contacts from possible future collaborators or brand ambassadors in that part of the world, which is the first step to take before entering other markets
  • Know about the latest trends in technology and innovation. We are in a globalised world, so whatever’s trending in Europe would also be trending in Brazil.

Finally, you come back home with plenty of wonderful and creative ideas to share with your team. So we suggest that you record and report the experience as carefully as possible to make your team also participate by getting their feedback and opinions. From experience, we know that starting is easy, but scaling is another thing. And for that, you will need the efforts of your entire team which has to be informed about all the steps you are planning to take, as a company.

And remember, if you want to have different results, you need to do things in a different way. TNW gave us the viewpoint that in spite of the difficulties and handicaps that we were facing, we were going in the right direction…

What to expect from this new edition?

We must agree that the world is changing, and in that process, technology plays an important role. It has been already 12 years since the first TNW Conference, and every year this event has been bringing the latest trends in technology driving business innovation on the stage. On the next 24th and 25th of May, the TNW experience will be back and we are here to bring you all the information about what would be happening there. So keep an eye on our channels.

Once again the best brains in their fields would be participating, making the lineup more ambitious than ever. Speakers coming from Booking.com, Google, Zalando, Zendesk, Deloitte, Uber, Facebook, Microsoft, and Nike, are going to offer their revolutionary and inspirational insights. Well, but that is not all. TNW has much more to offer that what you can imagine.

  • Roundtable Sessions and Workshops with the CEOs and founders of relevant and successful startups to get the best out of their experiences and business visions
  • Hundreds of exhibitions from startups like yours as a chance to show your product and business model
  • 19 tracks of content covering many diverse areas from Marketing, music, cinema, to IT. We warn you… it is going to be difficult to organise your time to attend all of them!
  • And of course, TNW is not only about information and talks. Take your time to relax in one of the many events and parties, or enjoy the delicious food trucks. But, don’t forget to take this time for networking and matchmaking!

Revolutionary ideas to get the best out of the event

TNW always has something new to surprise and revolutionise. They are future visionaries in technology and innovation, so what they apply in the event is what better speaks of them. It can be seen as an example for other tech events in order to really squeeze all advantages of technology in an international and diverse space where needs are met with creativity and, guess what, more technology.

  1. The TNW networking app. Networking has been always one of the main reasons to attend an event. Therefore, this year, TNW launches an app specially thought to get all connections in your phone. They can be organised by track, industry or keywords. And of course, it is linked to your LinkedIn, for a quicker connection. Check out more about this ingenious TNW Conference app here.

2. Free Babysitting service. TNW also knows that many of the geniuses attending the event have families. This year, they have partnered with Holiday Sitters, so that children can be under the wonderful care of certified babysitters that speak more than 21 languages. The babysitting service is for free for the first 100 hours.

3. T500, the more creative talents under 26s. As we know, TNW is an incredible chance to meet other professionals and investors. Therefore it is also a great chance for young entrepreneurs and talented professionals under 26 to find a match with a dream company or project. This year, together with Accenture, 500 ambitious and creative people within the digital scene were selected to present their ideas in a special session in front of talent supporters.
