What’s a Faustian bargain? In German lore, Faust sold his soul to the devil in exchange for what he lusted for the most in this world: unlimited knowledge. The Faustian bargain has since come down to mean giving up your soul in the soul-less pursuit of power, wealth, or pleasure.
