Lose Your Irrational Road Rage and Drive like a Human being
News Flash: Drivers are people.
I live and drive in the land of Massholes. The traffic is endless, the commute is long. We are the miserable heading to work, and then home again, after an eight-hour work day.
Boston traffic is the fourth worst in the nation, eighth in the world, and it’s getting worse. Sometimes it’s not good to be in the top ten.
Driving is dangerous enough, but add road rage to the mix, and it has the potential to turn deadly. You don’t know what people are dealing with, or if they are dealing with it productively.
Or who has a gun.
Lose your temper could lose your life. It only takes a second.
Thankfully, the average asshole cuts you off and goes merrily on their way to piss off someone else. You are not the only one that has the audacity to be on the road and the bully has moved on.
You sit and wonder, what is it that enrages people when they sit behind the wheel?
Part of the reason is people are stupid and do stupid things, but moreover it may be that as drivers we do not recognize the humanity of other drivers.
Sometimes, other drivers aren’t people in cars. Drivers in cars are just other cars.
