Spoiler alert: in case you are questioning if you should attend it or not, I’m here to share a bit of what we’ve been preparing for this year’s summit with you. Read on to learn more about our sessions, our speakers’ backgrounds, and why all of that is relevant for you.
Starting with a bam — the CEO is in the house!
For the first time, Unbabel’s co-founder and CEO Vasco Pedro will join a Community event and we couldn’t be more excited! Vasco will open the event walking us through the journey of our community and will certainly inspire us with what he envisions for the future.
Every edit counts
Artificial intelligence would be nothing without human brains. In other words, Unbabel wouldn’t exist without you. Product Manager Maria Pires, and Senior Product Designer Lana Loncar are key actors in the research and development stage and are the ones making sure that all the content delivered by editors are accounted for when improving the product.
They will provide answers to questions like: Where do I fit into Unbabel’s ecosystem? How am I contributing to the machine learning process? The super duo will explain why every edit counts and show us how together we can become the world’s translation layer.
Wait, is that a new feature?
I know that your keen editor’s eyes never fail to notice every new detail of our platform. As soon as you notice something new, you often go straight to the Facebook group to share your feedback and/or ask questions to your fellow editors, am I right? In this session you’ll have the chance to learn more about Smart Actions from its implementer David Maia (Senior Frontend Developer). This new feature allows editors to move glossary terms and annotations so they have more control over the text. “This will improve the editing experience and reduce the time per word”, David tells me. I can’t wait to hear more!
Hello from the other side… of the pipeline!
You open your Editor Dashboard and there are 5+ tasks available. But how did they get there? We invited Phill Brougham, Senior Product Marketing Manager, to show us what Unbabel looks like from the client’s perspective. You’ll get a better understanding of the process behind a customer agent’s work and see how essential your post-editing skills are to guarantee that the final product is delivered with top quality and speed.
From the community, to the community, with love
Chiara Papaccio, Julia Hausner-Hennig and Teresa Barbosa e Silva. Italy, Germany and Portugal. They all have at least two things in common: a passion for languages and pride in being active members of our Community. Teresa joined the family this year while Chiara and Julia, both Senior Editors, have been part of Unbabel for five years and counting. The panel will have a casual chat about experiences, best practices and memories from the point of view of those who have just landed and are adapting to the new role, and those who have witnessed changes and improvements over the years.
And last but not least, there’s absolutely no way we’re going to end the annual get-together without a fun, quiz with great prizes to be won!
