We look at the numbers summarizing the UnBlocked Cash response in Vanuatu at the end of 2020

Since October 2020 the Oxfam-led consortium of partners has been implementing the cash and voucher-based response program across the country’s two most populated provinces: Sanma (Santo and Malo islands) and Tafea (Tanna island).

Here are some stats showing the impact of the response at the end of December 2020.

Program participants: 3,210 (compared to 2,708 in November)

Number of vendors (indirect beneficiaries): 270 (compared to 183 in Nov.)

Number of (direct) benficiaries*: 2,940 (compared to 2,525 in Nov.)

Total cash distributed: 79,960,000 Vatu (compared to 50,500,000 Vt in Nov.)

Total cash spent: 70,418,755 Vatu (compared to 40,454,558 Vt in Nov.)

E-voucher usage: 88% of cash has been spent (compared to 80% in Nov.)

Impact in 2020

Total of 2,940 families are receiving 10,000 Vt/month in e-voucher assistance which they can use anywhere across their vendor network to purchase whatever they choose to meet their basic needs.

When we aggregate the numbers by the average of 5 people living in a family household this gives us the following impact at the end of 2020:

  • a total of 16,050 beneficiaries have been assited since October, of which,
  • 14,700 are direct beneficiaries (aid recipients)
  • 1,350 are indirect beneficiaries (vendors)
  • Over 109,000,000 Vt (+1M USD) disbursed in the forms of e-vouchers to families and payments to vendors enrolled in the programme.
