Unbound, an innovative global education social enterprise has been recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s ‘Businesses of Tomorrow’ by Westpac on 20th July 2018. The prestigious annual list was designed to reward and recognise the top 200 businesses recognised for their vision and drive to help shape the nation’s economic future. These businesses are based on certain criteria of demonstrating a clear purpose and vision, of understanding customer needs and of having the capability to understand tomorrows’ challenges. They represent the diversity of Australia — large and small, new and established, across all industries and sectors.

Students at The Women in Startups and Social Enterprise Program in India

Unbound creates and delivers some of the world’s best international education programs in conjunction with world-leading Australian universities. The immersive and engaging programs across Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal and India offer learning, connection and growth opportunities for emerging leaders say Unbound CEO, Julian O’Shea.
The aim is to inspire and influence the next generation of leaders to be socially conscious, globally aware and sensitive of the impact their thinking and actions can have on communities and the environment. It is truly amazing to see young people affecting change at the grassroots level while watching them grow as global citizens in front of your very own eyes. The team is passionate about providing exceptional learning experiences for students to undertake real-world innovation projects, but in a way that Is locally-led, authentic and with a strong sense of humility, as opposed to “voluntourism”.

Unbound has also offered a series of events and workshops to provide practical skills on how to connect to the ecosystem. They run programs with education institutions, like supporting the Social Enterprise Incubator course at the University of Melbourne. Their latest project is an innovative program called Generation Launch, which hopes to foster inclusion in Victoria’s startup ecosystem and address the unique challenges facing migrant entrepreneurs.

The organisation received $322,500 from LaunchVic to run a number of workshops and events in 2018 and 2019 for the program, as part of LaunchVic’s third round, focusing on increasing refugee and migrant participation in the Victorian startup ecosystem.
