Valentine is a time to give and receive gifts but sometimes, the gifts we get aren’t exactly something we like.

They can be something you already have, something that doesn’t fit… The list is endless, and regardless of how grateful we are for the gifts, being stuck with an unwanted gift is a major downer.

So what do you do with unwanted gifts ou aren’t keen on, other than just hiding it away?

1. Donate to Charity

Charity organisations are always happy to take most good quality gifts, and if they’re new, they will be happier. You’d surely sleep better knowing that your item has gone to someone who actually wants it.

2. Regifting

‘Regifiting’ as it’s known, shouldn’t be about offloading undesirable items onto others, but taking an item you already have, that doesn’t suit you and giving it to someone who will genuinely appreciate it.

3. Sell it

Unwanted gifts can be sold as new. Sites like jiji.com.ng is a good place to post and sell the gifts at any price you want.

4. Give it back

It’s a bold choice, we know, but it could be worth trying — and could end up being a win-win. Whatever the reason why you don’t like the gift, if you don’t want it, the person that gave it to you could use it or get their money back.

Valentine has come and gone and but what can be done to help our loved ones know what exactly to gift and stop making bad guesses for other occasions?Unboxd is the answer. It is an app to create a wishlist of things you want and collect cash contributions from anywhere in the world.

One thing our users love the most about Unboxd is how no one person has to pay the full amount for an item i.e if an item you want costs N100,000 one person can contribute N5,000 and another person N20,000 based on how much they can afford.
