H.H. Holmes: The Murder Castle and the Fraud

H.H. Holmes is supposedly America’s first serial killer — the infamous builder of a so-called Murder Castle in Chicago during the World’s Fair. His name almost automatically gives birth to a sort of victorian dark romanticism that evokes the time of Jack the Ripper and another man named Holmes — Sherlock Holmes.
