Seeing Germany; Studying Inequality

With a focus on the intersection of multilevel governance, social policy and income inequality in advanced democracies, UNC Political Science PhD student Kaitlin Alper’s research led her across Germany (as well as Italy, Spain, and the UK!) in the summer of 2019, after she received a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence Summer Research Award.

In tandem with a Question & Answer post about Kaitlin’s research experience, this photo essay provides a glimpse into Kaitlin’s research and the goals of the JMCE Summer Research Award: making the EU — and the study of it — accessible to as many people as possible.
