Jeepneys, sometimes called simply jeeps, are the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They are known for their crowded seating and kitsch decorations, which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture and art. (Source: Wikipedia)

A place where you are not a customer but part of the family, where surfing and not the bill is first priority, where you can relax and enjoy in a laid back place right at the Pacific Coast and surrounded by same minded people.

After more than 20 weeks of being on the go day in day out through 4 countries, we were desperately looking for a place to stay longer.
After three weeks of searching in the Philippines we gave up to find such dream destination which combines everything we want and decided to go on travelling.

We travelled Catanduanes, a not touristy island with beautiful beaches and countryside and headed south from there. We visited Legazpi and saw the Mt. Mayon, an active volcano which is almost symmetric conical shaped.
Another trip led us to Donsol, a small fisher village, where the biggest population of whale sharks in the Philippines is found. Many boats go out every morning to find the giants for the tourists to see and snorkel with.

A place we found out about on a random online blog, called Lola Sayong (Grandma Sayong)…

The first minutes in and we already knew that this is the place to stay.
We enjoyed and loved this place so much that we decided to stay for a month and to help them as good as we can: A brand new website www.lolasayong.org and the video which describes the life at this magic place best.

Whilst our stay in the Surf Camp we met a very friendly Filipino who invited us to come with him and his friends on a boat trip. It was just amazing, clear water and empty white beaches.
That’s the Philippines, a country which will stay in our mind as an incredible country to travel.

Thanks for reading, we hope you enjoyed it.
