A Delayed Welcome to Bezi and Congrats on the Series A!
Bezi recently announced their combined $13m Seed + Series A raise. We led Bezi’s $3m Seed round in Dec 2021. 2 years later, we’re thrilled to welcome Chetan Puttagunta from Benchmark to the team as the Series A lead.
Founded by Julian Park, Cecilia Uhr, and Denys Bastov, Bezi emerged from their firsthand frustrations with 3D collaboration at Oculus. The trio identified a critical gap in tools for streamlined 3D design and collaboration. While Figma excelled in 2D design, it lacked the necessary features for 3D, and Unity, while powerful, posed challenges for designers without engineering assistance. The team were determined to provide a better solution and the founders departed Oculus to establish Bezi.
With Bezi’s no-code platform, the process of designing and collaborating in 3D is much simpler and quicker. Thousands of designers are already using Bezi to whiteboard, design, and prototype 3D experiences. You can explore some prototypes created using Bezi here.
Suffice it to say, the founders have great founder-market fit given their prior experience at Oculus. Building a collaborative design platform on the web is no easy feat, but this team has the technical chops to do it. Julian and Denys were both former engineers with many years of experience building in AR/VR and Cecilia brings the customer’s perspective as a former designer in the space.
Finally, the 3D market is large and has strong tailwinds. The introduction of mixed-reality headsets, such as the Apple Vision Pro, could lead to a rare computing platform shift, which would accelerate growth in this sector. If this were to happen, Bezi is in a prime position to capitalize on this.
It’s been delightful to watch Bezi grow and evolve over the last 2 years. Congratulations to the entire team on securing this new round of funding!
