Presso Raises $8M to Help Hotels Make a Comeback with Low Carbon, Robot Garment Care Machines
Welcome to the future of clothing care! If you’re tired of long wait times and environmentally harmful dry cleaning practices, you’ll be excited to hear about our recent investment in Presso. This innovative robotics startup, based in Atlanta and backed by Silicon Valley, is changing the game when it comes to garment care.
After a dozen investments in hardware companies, I learnt the hard way how hard they are to successfully build up and scale. However, Presso’s approach and the results they have achieved so far have convinced me to make my first “true” hardware investment in years, despite the category being even harder than it used to be due to Covid-induced supply chain challenges.
Presso was founded in 2018 by co-founders Nishant Jain and Thibault Corens, who met and studied at Purdue University. These entrepreneurs have combined their previous business experiences to create a company that offers an on-demand garment care service through their EcoRobo Presso machine. The company’s patent-pending StretchAI robotics can freshen and press clothes quickly without causing damage, shrinkage, color fading, or linen loss is genuinely innovative. With this cutting-edge technology, customers can have their clothes treated instantly, on-site, and 360 times faster than traditional cleaners. And the best part? The service is eco-friendly, as it doesn’t use toxic chemicals in the treatment process. When I first learned about their Eco-Robo Presso machine, I knew this was an investment worth making.
Presso’s service aims to provide a convenient amenity for businesses and their guests, particularly during the pandemic. The EcoRobo Presso machine is environmentally friendly and helps hotels profit from garment care, supporting the economic recovery of the hospitality sector. Over 80 hotels in the US have already signed up to use Presso, and it’s been tested on Hollywood TV sets with a retention rate of 83%. Plus, Presso has a couple of patent-pending technologies covering the concept, hardware, and automation of the product. We at Uncork are excited by Presso’s mission to introduce a new standard in convenient and sustainable clothing care.
I’m excited to welcome the entire Presso team to the Uncork family and support their mission to introduce a new standard for clothing care that is both convenient and sustainable! I’d love to hear from you if you had the opportunity to use one of their machines.
