We are thrilled to welcome our first-ever Associate, Sarah Du, to the team! Historically, the Partners at Uncork have handled everything themselves as a full-stack team, but as the firm has grown, we saw the immense value an Associate could bring, particularly to a smaller organization like ours. With this in mind, we set out to find an exceptional individual to fill this position.

As fate would have it, Sarah was already a part of our network. Tripp and Sarah originally connected during her sophomore year at Princeton, where he had the opportunity of advising her through both Princeton’s Entrepreneurship Club and Prospect Student Ventures, the student run venture capital fund (of which Sarah was a Founding Partner).

During our conversations with Sarah, several qualities caught our attention — her intelligence, thoughtfulness, and keen eye for interesting companies. In addition to that, she’s also driven, personable, and an overall good human being. This is a rare combination of qualities and is exactly what we’re looking for in a new teammate.

Sarah has an extensive background in venture capital. Her most recent experience includes serving as an Investor at Bessemer Venture Partners, where she made investments in companies across the Seed, Series A, and Series B stages. Some of the startups she sourced and supported include Kindred, a peer-to-peer home-swapping marketplace, Notisphere, a medical recall software company, and Chaos Labs, a risk management platform. Furthermore, Sarah has been involved with early-stage companies during her time at Pear VC and Sierra Ventures. Prior to that, she contributed as a data analyst at Drop, a fintech startup focusing on a mobile rewards loyalty platform.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sarah shares a passion for great food and wine, aligning perfectly with the interests of our team. Having recently relocated from NYC to the Bay Area, Sarah is eager to embrace new adventures, planning to pick up surfing and hiking. In her spare time, you can catch Sarah playing basketball or showcasing her skills on the dance floor. She’s a hip hop dancer who occasionally dips into contemporary, Chinese traditional, classical Indian, and swing.

In her role as Associate, Sarah will contribute to sourcing exceptional companies, assisting in due diligence processes, and providing valuable guidance to our portfolio companies. She will work across all of our key sectors — b2b, consumer, and frontier tech. Please join us in giving Sarah a warm welcome to the Uncork family!
