I like it. What to do when your exchange is hosting a cryptocurrency that’s meant to be tied to the U.S. Dollar but is actually at best being unforthcoming and shady, at worst an outright scam? Well, you could always just start accepting actual U.S. Dollars, as Bittrex has announced that it will start doing. At this point it kind of feels like we’re beating a dead horse with Tether (it’s a slow news day), but aside from the Tether/Bitfinex scandal, this is actually great news: it provides another on-ramp into crypto from fiat currency, which is something the market is demanding more of. Also, it’s a driver of greater adoption, which is timely given the recent price dips taking place and some fresh buying blood would be chicken soup for the 50%-off-of-highs soul.

Bittrex making this announcement, paired with increased tax scrutiny on crypto trades from U.S. officials, kind of makes it seem that USDT is superfluous on their exchange. Could we see a Tether delisting coming up shortly? Eyes remain on this evolving topic.

In the meantime, here are your links, you filthy animals:

Fortune on identity and the blockchain. Add identity to the list of money transfer and real estate registry as some of the best use cases where society can use blockchain now.

This is a current problem that is going to be discussed mainstream in 2018..bigly. Malware that uses your computer to mine crypto for others while you are blissfully unaware

The above link reminded me of when I first read about this issue, back in December. It’s primarily infecting your computer while you’re streaming video from otherwise trusted sources.
