The world around you is changing faster than ever. Even while writing this post someone is experimenting on driverless cars; someone is building re-usable spacecrafts; someone is changing healthcare forever.

The pace of change is insanely great, possibly this is the moment the late Steve Jobs referred to.

With every cycle of evolution the face of professional opportunities is changing

The jobs that were not imagined 5 years back exist today and are high paying!

Its incredible how the workplace is changing today. The jobs that did not exist just 5 years back are in high demand today.

Most companies did not have a Director of Social Media/ Digital Marketing/ Online Marketing 5 years back. Today they do.

The senior level positions are changing too!

CMO’s today are supposed to be Chief Growth Officers who understand metrics, channels, funnels and optimisation. Was this the case 5–7 years back (not really).

When change is the only constant, discovery matters: Noise Vs/ Signal!

All the change and evolution has resulted in a lot of noise. There are views and viewpoints everywhere. Millions of people are trying to ‘be something’. Millions are aspiring to communicate.

The most amazing one’s get discovered by like minded people!

Are you preparing to get discovered OR still waiting for a job to apply to?

If you’re still waiting to apply to jobs and hoping that you will get one quickly, I am afraid, the wait might be long… really long. A lot of experienced professionals are finding it tough to grab opportunities even after waiting it out for over 6–9 months!

Whoever you are, your professional brand matters. Start now!

Whether you are a student, a professional OR even an early stage startup founder, your professional brand matters. You must spend time in creating a well researched, insightful brand that communicates powerfully to the world around you.

Leverage social media as distribution channels that will not just take your message to the world, but also get you discovered by incredible people around the world.

This blog post for example is ripe for discovery. Who knows who discovers it around the world and interesting opportunities open up?

Begin with your professional brand now!

Drop your CV. Spend focused time to develop a strong, highly focused and updated Linkedin profile. Keep it updated every month.

The key points to remember are:

  1. Summarise your experiences crisply. Answer what value did you create where you worked?
  2. Short, highly focused projects are valuable and are appreciated. This shows how actively you participate in activities beyond your usual work scope and KRAs
  3. Be insightful. Communicate by creating content/ write blogs. Be genuinely valuable. In times today people can sense your value from a mile away. Random musings won’t get you genuine inspired following unless you’re a rockstar
