Race and ethnicity plays a key role in how people identify themselves and the world around them. And it is role of journalists to tell the stories of all people in fair light. However, historically journalism has been dominated by a single race in America. While the goal of journalism is to stay objective and to report the truth, inevitable racial biases began to form.

As we enter one the most diverse era in American history, it is important to look into history of how race has been covered in journalism, how the profession has evolved and the impact the media have had on all our lives as we attempt to we look back at the past in an effort to inform our future.
