The disruptions that came alongside the pandemic have crippled a huge portion of businesses and start-ups, forcing them to adapt in a highly competitive and technological-driven market. As entrepreneurs find their way and position in the new normal, an organization came to be of aid, ensuring entrepreneurial success through building a community of lifelong learners.

With a vision of addressing entrepreneurial education gap with the right mindset, heartset, and skillset, the School of Agility Grit and Entrepreneurship, otherwise known as SAGE, is offering a special opportunity to young students, fresh graduates, upskillers, explorers, and aspiring entrepreneurs through a series of courses centered on developing lifelong learners and preparing individuals to become certified entrepreneurs and founders with guaranteed entrepreneurial success.

The organization was founded by a couple of Asian entrepreneurs Rina Neoh (Founder & Chairman), Roger Collantes (Co-Founder & CEO), and Genesis Alegata (Co-Founder & MD), together with their supports, John Lomugdang (Marketing Head), and Vercillius Mila Jr. (Technology Head). SAGE was developed to help young students and entrepreneurs in leading and designing their businesses amidst a global outbreak. They accommodate fresh graduates and working professionals, across Southeast Asia, who are in the middle of establishing or shifting their career paths and guide them towards guaranteed success.

Since June, SAGE has conducted educational sessions wherein various notable speakers — from business leaders, renowned entrepreneurs, artists, and influencers worldwide — discuss different fascinating topics, equipping learners with the right mindset and knowledge will help them become competitive entrepreneurs. Some of their speakers were emerging global leaders such as Megan Young (Miss World 2013); John Aguilar (Host of CNN Philippines’ The Final Pitch); RJ Ledesma (Founder of Mercato Centrale); Yemi Keri (Founder, Rising Tide Africa); Joseph Chan (Founder and CEO, Asia Pay); and Paulo Bugayong (CEO and Co-Founder, AIDE). SAGE offers sessions on developing identity, expanding entrepreneurial ideas, understanding customer experiences, coaching and mentoring, improving leadership skills, and building a start-up. Invited speakers laid out ideas; shared some inspirational life and success stories, and theories which are useful for the scholars to develop agility and grit.

Aside from the online learning sessions, SAGE also has a technology learning platform which can be accessed through https://www.sageedutech.com/. The platform contains entrepreneurship courses which you can use to grow your potential and entrepreneurial skills. Courses on learning agility and grit are also available some for free and at a low price.

Among the scholars of SAGE are Communication Research students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Some of which have shared their SAGE experience with UNDERSCORE.

A place of opportunities

“May mga tips sa pagpasok sa entrepreneurship, tapos may isang case na yung ka-partner nila abroad, naghanap ng student na pwedeng mag-part-time for editing… so I guess may chance na magkawork… Tapos iba-ibang tao kasi speakers with different professions, magkaka-idea ka tungkol sa iba’t ibang uri ng work ng mga bigating tao. Mostly ceo/founder ng companies from different countries,” — Roxan Vistro, 1st year student at PUP-DCR

[There are numerous tips given when it comes to entrepreneurship. There’s also a situation where one of their partners abroad is looking for a student who is willing to work part-time in editing, so there is also an opportunity that you can work abroad through SAGE. Since there are different people with various professions, you’ll get an idea from the different experiences of notable people who are mostly businessmen, CEO/founders of companies from different countries.]

A source of learning and motivation

Furthermore, SAGE is not just about a series of webinars that educates learners to be open in entrepreneurial ideas alongside giving out opportunities; its speakers also motivate scholars on how they will face and cope with fears and self-doubt that creates a gap in their goals.

“I’m very grateful na naging part ako ng SAGE since sobrang laking opportunity nga nito. Di lang siya basta webinar, nagturo sila paano mo haharapin yung fears mo even kung paano mo ioovercome insecurities mo. 3x a week yung session pero hindi ka tatamarin kasi every session iba yung inaatake. Bilang isang research student, malaking tulong siya kasi nahahasa yung skills natin kasi parang every session makakaisip ka ng research topic sa sobrang interesting palagi. Pwede mo rin magamit lahat ng napag aralan lalo na if bet mo maging entrepreneur someday.” — Janna Pascua, 2nd year student at PUP-DCR

[I’m very grateful to be a part of SAGE, since this is a big opportunity, this is not just an ordinary webinar; this is an inspiring webinar that teaches people on how to face their fears and ways on how to overcome their insecurities. There are 3 sessions per week and you’ll never get dull because in every session you’ll gain tons of new knowledge and life lessons. As a research student, attending these sessions has been helpful because it will enhance and develop our skills, also, you’ll be able to think of different topics because every session is interesting. You can also use all of what you’ve learned in the future, especially if you desire to become an entrepreneur someday.]

A holistic community

Innumerable opportunities await students who are part and will be joining SAGE. Countless inspiring stories, perspectives, and unforgettable experiences are imparted by speakers to those who want to explore, learn, as well as seek growth and development for their society through entrepreneurship.

“To cap everything that I learned from SAGE, I will condense it to this sentence:

One learning that really made a mark to me was dream big and if your idea is not daunting enough to pursue, it isn’t big enough. This idea makes you want to think more than aiming for material success. Your idea should also be beneficial to society. And if your idea is relevant to solving a real problem of our world today, it will be supported. To put simply, it really feels good to be involved with people who genuinely want to make the world a better place.” — Aimie Idul, 3rd year student AT PUP-DCR.

SAGE is indeed a helpful education platform that aims to produce competitive individuals that are meant to be certified entrepreneurs and founders whilst carrying confidence and knowledge that can expand and increase the ratio of entrepreneurial success over failure across the world.

SAGE offers a scholarship to their nine special classes composed of three Agility, Grit, and Entrepreneurship learning sessions. Certificate of attendance is given upon attending and completing said classes, followed by an opportunity for mentorship and coaching from global business leaders. This scholarship is open to anyone who is seeking knowledge, tips, and motivation through an entrepreneurial approach.
