It’s important to find ways to engage with buyers when trying to get a foothold in the public sector market. Events can be a great way to meet potential clients and demonstrate what your company can offer. Here’s our rundown of government procurement events to look out for in the next few months.

Digital Services in Government

8th September

Brighton

This event aims at demystifying Public Sector procurement for local SMEs. Warren Smith of the Government Digital Service (GDS) will talk through the procurement opportunities at a national and local level, specifically around the redesigned Digital Services Framework (DS3). The event will be hosted by Chris Farthing, Founder & Director of Advice Cloud. Since their launch in October 2014 Advice Cloud has helped many local and national businesses close over £2.5m of new business and generate a pipeline of c£15m of new opportunities.

ConstructionOnline — Meet the Buyer

September to November

Various locations

Construction Online is organising a programme of Meet the Buyer events for the construction industry. Events will be attended by main contractors and public sector buyers. The first event is in Newcastle on the 7th of September, then moves to Lincoln, Liverpool, Bristol, London, Glasgow, Nottingham and Southampton.

Think Digital Government

The conference will be focusing heavily on the opportunities and threats within Public Sector IT around Brexit and how we Redefine the role of Digital in Government. SDP — Meet the Buyer

This annual event is the largest free procurement event in Scotland, where public sector buyers and suppliers come together. There will be 60 exhibitors and 1,000 delegates, allowing suppliers unprecedented access to decision makers in both the public and private sectors with speakers from Scottish Government, the Crown Commercial Service, Google Digital Garage and Infrastructure and Projects Authority.

Understanding Procurement: Public Sector & Government

Learn how to get ready to tender, find opportunities and understand the tendering process.

At this seminar, Lucy Moody of the Home Office will give you an overview of Home Office business, how it buys goods and services and where to look for upcoming opportunities and high level information on the Home Office pipeline. Tim Sheppard of SmartSupport will give you an understanding of how to work with Local Authorities across the region. This event will help you understand how you fit in the public sector market, what opportunities are right for you and what is important to public sector clients.

Meet the Buyer

14th November

Nottingham

At this Meet the Buyer event, attendees can have a one to one session with public sector buyers, visit SME and business market stalls, and see seminar presentations throughout the day. There will be 15-minute-long slots with public sector procurement specialists, in which attendees will be able to discuss what their companies offer and how it would match with the buyers’ needs, how to navigate the procurement route, and what to can expect in terms of timings. Public sector buyers from New College Nottingham & Central College, Nottingham City Homes, University of Nottingham, Metropolitan Housing, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust have confirmed attendance.

Food Matters Live — Meet the Buyer

This three-day event of seminars for the food and catering sector will include a Meet the Buyer programme.
