I make it a point to recollect the below quote before every teaching & learning session:

“If help and salvation are to come, they can come only from children, for children are the makers of men.” — Maria Montessori

According to Montessori, a child is endowed with unknown powers. Our job as facilitators is to bring out these hidden possibilities to create a more vibrant and meaningful world. Children are born intelligent. It is just that they learn in different ways. Hence, it is essential that we do not get carried away with imparting information and practices that worked for us, as it might not work for every learner.

People might interpret the quote in different ways, based on their own experiences and practices. To me, this is a subtle reminder to: “Never underestimate the abilities of your learners.”
