I Started A Business, But I’m Not An Entrepreneur

My business — it’s not “Like [Popular Startup 1] and [Popular Startup 2] had a baby”. It’s not the next Woof. I am not disrupting an industry and I’m not trying to move the proverbial needle.

I found a Rob-shaped hole in a proven business model and I am filling it.

There is no exit strategy because I am doing what I love.

My business goals revolve around providing for myself and my family, not my board or my investors.

In my office, there is no glory in working long hours. I’m not interested in the #hustle or #grind. The glory is in providing for our family, participating in my daughters life, and not being an asshole to my wife because I am stressed out all of the time.

I produce value for my clients. And if I produce more value than my peers, I am rewarded (In full. No one is taking a cut).

I understand the desire to be your own boss — to be free from corporate bondage and control your own destiny. But don’t over-complicate things. Don’t over think it. Honestly, this isn’t rocket-surgery. It’s just good business.

P.S. It would mean the world to me if you would help spread this by clicking the ❤ below. And be the first to know of future posts by following me. 😘

P.P.S. If you are an independent worker (or aspiring to be), I would encourage to you sign up for the Unfederated newsletter. It is a monthly publication and packed full of wisdom & encouragement for folks just like us.
