It was by providence that my hands were wrist-deep in dirty dishwater when I was listening to Urban Meyer’s book because that was what prevented me from turning it off within the first 5 minutes.

When I selected this audiobook, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it.

Five minutes into listening, I was sure it was not my cup of tea, considering I did not understand 90% of the football references apart from the words Quarterback and Touchdown, of which my knowledge is from watching American movies.

All I knew going into this book was that on a team of hot jocks, the hottest actor was usually cast to play the quarterback.

But by the end of the prologue, I was hooked.

The narration is vivid and insightful into the life of a college basketball head coach, but the lessons he drew out from his coaching experience, are so relevant to life far removed from the pitch.

There are several messages in the book, but the one core message, after which the book is named is the pithy phrase — living Above The Line.

I believe YOLO, but not in the hippie dare devil kind of way, although I am a bit of a hippie on most days, and I dare to go up against my fears often.
