[Part of an Indian election focussed series].

16th Lok Sabha saw the representation from 39 political parties

Today marks the start of the voting for the Indian General Election- the be-all and end-all of all of the Indian political drama. We’re infested with all kinds of news, opinions, information.

But at UnFound, we believe that information is not enough. Without proper insights, the information is useless, even deceptive!

We bring to you a dedicated portal to understand all about Lok Sabha elections: UnFound.news/lok-sabha-elections-2019

What are the prominent issues in the election? Who are the top guns? What had been the recent debates all about? What are some of the landmark moments/events during the last 5 years? What were the hit & misses of last government?- we’ve got all of that covered.

Will the real political party please stand up?

16th Lok Sabha saw the representation from 39 political parties. Each of the parties surely gave various statements, speeches, talked to media, etc. They laughed, dozed off, sang songs, and even threw papers.

But how did the parties really perform for almost five years in the 16th Lok Sabha?

We analyzed data (graciously provided to us by PRS Legislative Research)- to answer these. It reveals some concrete stats- like, Which party had the best attendance? Which party members debated the most? Which party had the most qualified MPs? Which had the least? What types of questions did each party ask in Lok Sabha?

We created insights.unfound.news/parliament, to display vital party performance in the 16th Lok Sabha in graphical format. What better way to absorb complex data than to view it. As they say- A picture is worth a thousand words; a graph is worth a thousand pictures.

For example, the below graph compares the average number of debates participated per member of BJP & INC .
