H81 Motherboard : Please install the PSU’s 4-pin power cables

Please install the PSU’s 4-pin power cables to the 4-pin power connectors on your motherboards.

So you just finished setting up your rig, and the first thing you see is a BIOS warning saying you forgot to connect the extra power cables to the motherboard! Don’t worry, you probably did not do something wrong (or maybe you did, it depends, see below).

Solution

If you are using more than 2 PCI-E connectors on the motherboard, you will be reminded that you need to provide power to these extra outlets UNLESS you are using powered PCI-E risers for your GPUs.

The power ports it’s complaining has no power since we have more than 2 PCI-E connections.

The powered PCI-E risers that does the trick instead.

Therefore, if you are using powered PCI-e risers you can ignore the message and request to not be notified of this message anymore by pressing “N”.
