Baseledger Mainnet — 4 weeks after the launch
On March 29, 2022 the Baseledger Mainnet went live! In this blog post we have a look on the first 4 weeks of production.
About a month ago Baseledger went live — we are proud and happy that the network is running since then without any issues or downtimes. More and more validators are joining, some of which even offer various proxy-staking solutions. We see an increasing load of transactions being processed on Baseledger every day already — which is awesome given that the network is live only a few weeks.
Baseledger is an outstanding addition to the UBT utility token and a prime solution for enterprises use cases looking to synchronize business processes in a limited- or zero-knowledge environment.
Baseledger has been built in a decentralized, open and inclusive way, so that everyone can join, contribute to and use the network. There is no vendor lock-in. No single entity (including Unibright) can control, take down or manipulate the network. And no one is able to “see” who is using the network in which way. Everyone is free to spin up a node, buy work tokens with UBT and start using Baseledger instantly.
The whole idea behind Baseledger (and baselined processes) is to be a decentralized ecosystem for enterprises that want to have blockchain for their enterprise integration processes:
- They want it to be reliable and secure from the tech side.
- They want a certain performance of transaction times
- They want a predictable cost mechanism
- They want tools to connect their systems
- They do NOT want anybody outside their work group being able to track that/how they are using Baseledger.
All of this is enabled and guaranteed by Baseledger!
Especially point 5 means, that nobody is able to tell what the payload of certain transaction means. “Privacy” inside Baseledger means “privacy by design”, and all users can count on that.
The public “we are using blockchain, and we are telling the world about it” phase already slowed down significantly after the first hype around blockchain, and basically since 2019 you are not really winning the internal management price if you are just showing a PoC with blockchain. Now it is about to leave the PoC phase and enable enterprise blockchain on production level.
Baseledger is a very important infrastructural component for reaching this. Additional components in the ecosystem, like the open sourced Baseledger Proxy or connectors for ERP systems like the SAP certified conUBC add to the overall compatibility and integration into enterprise system landscapes.
The business model of Unibright to earn money is still the product, solution and consulting business, which is our daily work. Of course, many of the projects we are running are aiming to result in Baseledger being used. We are actively promoting and consulting Baseledger inside our projects, we are paying our own developers to enhance the tools around it, and we are happy for every client that uses Baseledger, even if they are NOT willing to talk about this in crypto related communities or in Baseline meetings.
If any client wants to talk about their tech-stack publicly, and this tech-stack includes Baseledger, they can promote is as openly as they want, we cannot control that, and we are also not the bottleneck for doing so. Of course, we are encouraging all members in the ecosystem to talk about it, and sometimes we even find some of the biggest players in the world to talk about it, like just happened with the European Investment Fund.
We just entered the phase of having a production ready enterprise blockchain, all powered by UBT! We are convinced Baseledger will play a leading role in Enterprise Blockchain.
From a big picture perspective, coming from Unibright’s ICO in 2018 until the launch of Baseledger in 2022, we have built a superb set of tools, applications and systems to help enterprises make use of blockchain technology.
