In 2019 and 2020 we presented Unibright Freequity, our vision of a 360° tokenization and DeFi platform. In context of Baseline, tokenization is the elementary concept to provide decentralized finance applications to enterprises. To accelerate our development in this direction, we will integrate our Unibright Freequity Platform with the Hedera Token Service (HTS) to scale asset tokenization and decentralized finance activities for enterprise adoption.

We introduced our definition of Enterprise DeFi on our Baseline-as-a-Service demoday:

“Enterprise DeFi is a technique of techniques, applied on tokenized assets, building upon business objects whose exchange reached a certain level of trust. Enterprise DeFi starts in an off-chain system and transforms values into a blockchain based representation.”

Unibright Freequity offers exactly that: different components (like code-generated token issuing, liquidity and exchange applications, standardized interfaces for big data analysis applications and more) that can be applied on top of established business processes. As an example, we showcased an invoice factoring use-case, where a formerly baselined invoice is converted into a token which represents payments and debts between buyer, seller, 3rd party factoring providers and regulators.

As Unibright Freequity components are designed highly automatable and code-generated, they can be easily extended to target different platforms, like now also HTS. The Hedera Token Service (HTS) provides the ability to issue tokens on a globally distributed public network without compromising performance, security, or stability. This allows users to leverage the existing network primitives, along with configurable compliance, and low predictable fees. In addition, developers can rely on a robust set of APIs for the configuration, minting, and management of tokens on Hedera, without needing to set up and deploy a smart contract.

Stefan Schmidt, Chief Technology Officer at Unibright, said

“At Unibright we constantly strive to integrate those technologies, platforms and distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) that match our business needs and objectives. The Hedera Token Service (HTS) adds perfectly to Unibright Freequity and delivers most advanced tokenization at scale, low cost, with instant finality. The ability for HTS to leverage existing network primitives was a major appeal in deciding to integrate Unibright Freequity with Hedera.”
