In Part 2 of ‘The journey of an idea’ we looked at how to narrow the scope of an idea based on how viable or feasible it was.

Following the posting of part 2, I went and got out of the building to start speaking with people; however, rather than continue to write detailed blog posts I have decided to move all workings to a public workspace on Notion.

Feel free to share questions, feedback or thoughts to me directly via twitter @ianwdj

Below is a quick breakdown of how I have decided to use Notion for developing this idea.

Detailing the vision and mission of this adventure

Keeping these artefacts front and centre can empower others to actively contribute towards this vision.

The problem brief

This page should be absent of any solution. Use it as a space to summarise ‘the why’ of what you are going to build.

The ‘Job to be done”

During your discovery phase you will have likely found out what are some of the ‘Jobs to be done’ by your target audience.

In the early stages of researching a new idea it will be challenging to acquire enough data through interviewing alone. If required, break down what you believe sits behind the job story. Understanding when and how something occurred will become critical data to have during the solution design process.
