So one of the main points made by Liz Chaney during the first televised showing of the January 6th hearings was that Donald Trump did not make an effort to protect the Capitol. This reiterates the fact checks from Washington Post and Politifact which argues that Donald Trump never brought about the order to send 10,000 troops from national guard. There has been a recent development from NBC-15 news which apparently claims that a Department of Defense official coordinated with Capitol Police Deputy Chief regarding National Guard availability. The NBC-15 website appears to be summarizing a story that was originally reported on by Just The News. For better detail, Just The News that the Trump administration asked whether or not they wanted 10,000–20,000 National Guardsmen ready for January 6th, but was denied several times. Now, I understand that many people will likely mention that Just The News has a mixed credibility rating on MediaBiasFactCheck. I believe that those people have the intention of dismissing the story simply because a less than stellar credibility rating.

Below I have shared the Department timeline, from Just The News, which shows a timeline of events January 6th and the days leading up to the event and an email where additional federal forces are discouraged from being deployed. There are several times in which requests for National Guard deployment were denied. There is no evidence of Donald Trump explicitly giving an order for National Guard to be deployed, but likewise there is no evidence (from my point of view) suggesting that talks of deploying National Guard amongst the Trump administration was non-existent.
