UNION Partners with Cellframe to Provide Bridging Protection to Its Quantum-Resistant Blockchain
We’re pleased to announce our partnership with Cellframe, the quantum-safe and service-oriented blockchain, to bring UNION protection for assets transported across Cellframe’s cross-chain bridges to public blockchains.
Cellframe is a quantum-resistant, multi-channel blockchain that allows for multiple key and signing algorithms. Quantum-resistant cryptographic standards are still being defined by industry and government actors worldwide, with Cellframe one of the leaders within the blockchain market. Architecture like Cellframe’s permits flexible trial and adoption of algorithms in advance of the formal conclusion of standards’ processes.
Additionally, Cellframe unlocks a specific capability of smart contracts that is currently not possible — interacting directly with the resources of an operating system. As a result, Cellframe services can leverage computing power, disk space, and the Internet channel of operating systems to carry out necessary business logic.
UNION is committed to providing asset protection product execution on-chain in quantum-resistant environments. Cellframe’s transactions represent a specialized capability for DeFi by supplying added security to DeFi transactions. Initially, UNION will provide asset protection via UNION coverage pools to Cellframe’s Cell Bridges to other public blockchains — with Ethereum first in line.
Asset coverage will include NFTs and asset balances that move over the bridge, using a composable pool that adds quantum-specific risk to our initial coverage offered in similar bridging scenarios. This is a crucial benefit of composability from a policy contract perspective and architecturally something quite powerful that UNION was designed for.
Cross-chain bridges are rapidly emerging as critical infrastructure for a scalable and interoperable ecosystem of public blockchains. As the volume and value of transactions deployed across bridges increase, asset protection will play a pivotal role in assuring DeFi participants that funds are adequately protected in the event of cross-chain bridge problems. Cross-chain asset coverage is a nascent space but one that we think will soon absorb a significant portion of DeFi’s demand for protection pools and other instruments as interoperability expands.
“In our work with Cellframe, we will provide asset protection for NFTs and balances that move over the bridge, using a composable pool that adds quantum-specific risk to our initial coverages offered in similar bridging scenarios,” said Michael Beck, UNION’s Project Lead. He continued, “This is a key benefit of composability from a policy-contract perspective, and architecturally something quite powerful that UNION’s protocol for specifying protection benefits uniquely enable. We are excited at this opportunity for collaboration, and the potential to link other post-quantum-focused relationships we have for the purpose of robust consideration of the immense value and complexities of this emergent technology.”
Dmitry Gerasimov, Cellframe’s Chief Technology Officer offered, “Cellframe has big plans of working with Union. We will focus on building financial, operational, and technical protection products for our cross-chain bridges and some experiments in the field of quantum risk protection mechanisms for other blockchain protocols. Besides the fact that the Union team is one of the most experienced teams on the crypto-risk mitigation market, these guys also have a deep understanding of the quantum threat, making our cooperation much more efficient.”
We look forward to engaging with Cellframe further about the possibilities of quantum-resistant technology and avenues for enveloping cross-chain technology with pooled UNION coverage.
Cellframe is a quantum-resistant layer-1 network focused on facilitating secure and scalable cross-chain transfers. Cellframe aims to create an infrastructure for decentralized low-level services through its multichain nature. It is quantum-safe — it uses post-quantum encryption by default. Cellframe is built from scratch with plain C, which results in more efficient utilization of CPU and memory.
UNION is a technology platform that combines bundled protection and a liquid secondary market with a multi-token model. DeFi participants manage their multi-layer risks across smart contracts and protocols in one scalable system. UNION decreases the entry barriers for retail users and lays the foundation for institutional investors. UNION’s full-stack DeFi protection is inclusive, composable, and brings battle-tested capital and pricing models from TradFi to the DeFi ecosystem.
