What’s Happening to OnlyFans is Why We Built Unique.Fans — Unique. One

This is what we said back in March when we launched Unique.Fans:

“Erotic artists are continually dogged by barriers to monetising their art. Beyond the obvious struggle of social media and platform restrictions, payment processors cancel accounts, and middlemen take a fair chunk of their earnings.”

Unfortunately, in our fiat-driven society, intermediaries such as Mastercard and Visa (as we see now in the case of OnlyFans) can bar erotic artists from the ability to earn an income from their work.

The Unique One Network volunteer founding team was initially prompted to launch its flagship marketplace, Unique. One, after COVID restrictions choked art industries in all genres in 2020. Major festivals were canceled, museums and galleries closed, and residencies were postponed due to COVID travel restrictions.

Meanwhile, art minted as NFTs was (and still is) flourishing as a massive amount of funds flow into the digital art marketplace. NFTs offer artists of all verticals an incredible opportunity to share their art in digital form and earn income in a permissionless, decentralised environment — void of intermediaries like central banks and credit card companies.

Any artwork displayed in digital format can be tokenized (minted as an NFT) — images, photographs, videos, blogs, music files, etc. Tokenized artwork is bought, sold, traded, and commissioned in cryptocurrency, which can then be converted to fiat currency such as Euros, USD, Yen, etc.

OnlyFans is Biting the Hands that Fed It

It’s pretty pathetic of OnlyFans to have scaled massively off the backs of erotic creators, only to toss them out — especially while the pandemic is still rampant. Before COVID hit in 2019, OnlyFans only had about 120k subscribers .

But after the pandemic left millions of people out of work and sex workers in dangerous situations, OnlyFans exploded to 2M creators . And it isn’t just sex workers that we’re talking about here.

Many unemployed women and single moms found financial refuge from the fallout of the pandemic by creating erotic art and networking with fans. Now Big Banks are getting cold feet and asserting their paranoid control over the livelihood of millions of creators.

Blockchain isn’t so fickle. And while other NFT platforms and aggregators that claim to be “decentralised” have been known to censor erotic art, Unique.Fans was design specifically for erotic artists.

Unique.Fans Invites OnlyFans Artists to try the Permissionless World of NFTs

Unique.Fans is a community-owned, decentralised NFT Adult Arts Marketplace for the growing world of digital Adult Creators and their Fans.

Unique.Fans is a space where creators can develop a more intimate relationship with fans who have the freedom to support the artists they care about by becoming investors in the art they appreciate.

Networks and followings can be built in peace without the fear of a centralised authority imposing subjective judgments on what is or what is not art.

The blockchain also provides innovative ways for NSFW artists to protect against theft of their art — a huge problem in the erotic art space — where stolen risqué content is disseminated by illicit aggregators.

NFT artists who mint their works on-chain before any other online exposure have the opportunity to create an archive of provenance. They can also elect to protect their work from copyright infringement on-platform with watermarks, only releasing the original image upon purchase.

Unique.Fans Encourages Creative Expression

The Unique Fans Community insists on an open platform that encourages individuals to express their creativity as long as Users respect the Fans Community Terms and Guidelines.

The Fans Community Terms and Guidelines are meant for the protection of artists, the community, and the innocent to keep the platform legal and accessible — not to be used to selectively silence the voices of creativity in the Adult Art Genre.

To create on Unique.Fans, all artists must first become verified on Yoti in accordance with international law to protect Unique.Fans’ Artists and keep them free.

The Yoti process is simple and only required once for each wallet address connected to the Unique.Fans platform to mint NFTs.

The Unique.Fans Community is supportive to newbies who may be unfamiliar with minting NFTs, setting up a wallet, and getting started.

Join the Unique.Fans Community Telegram channel and feel free to ask questions. It’s time erotic artists took back their sovereignty. Unique.Fans can help.
