It’s Time to Restart.
It’s time to restart. Our current way of life is not leading us in a positive direction, nor has it ever been. Our way of life has made us oblivious to the harm that we are causing by continuing on this way. Every day, the obliteration caused by humankind grows ever larger, and shows no signs of holding up anytime soon. We must learn that we will never ever solve any of the problems we are currently facing by modifying our civilizational system. It is time that we reconsider the flaws of this system, and how we must abolish it if we are to solve the many problems that we face today as byproducts of the system itself.

What I mean by “restart” in this instance, is that we must return to a pre-civilizational state, rather than simply attempting to improve it. However, abolishing an entire civilizational system does not come without its difficulties. Many minds will have to be changed along the way, and some blood will most certainly be shed in the downfall of this civilizational system. Yes, it sounds like an awful conclusion that we must face, however, this loss of human life in the downfall of civilization is a sacrifice that must be made if we are to avoid the extinction of the human species as a whole. On another note, the loss of human life that will occur when civilization falls does not compare to the loss of non-human life that we as a species have incurred upon the planet. I mean not that these lives lost are meaningless, it is simply a fact that the lives that we have taken from the biosphere in the 12,000 years since the beginning of civilized society. Every year, billions upon billions of innocent non-human lives are lost at the hands of humanity. This number is hundreds if not thousands times larger than the 7+ Billion people that will perish at the collapse of civilization. For humanity to truly reach a population level that is sustainable, much of our population is going to have to gradually die off until we have reached a level that is capable of becoming one with the natural world. When all is aid and done, over 99% of our current human population will have to die to ensure a future for the human race.
Along with the abolition of our current civilizational system, a piece of this operation that is quite important is the utter obliteration of the technosphere. We, the citizens of earth must do whatever is in our power to ensure that technological society will not rise once again. It is very important that we bring down the technosphere as soon as possible, thus lessening the destruction that is put upon the Earth when the system finally does give in and collapses upon itself. In paragraph three of Industrial Society and Its Future by Ted Kaczynski, he describes how the breakdown of the technological system will have disastrous results when it collapses, however it is better that we destroy the system right now, instead of allowing it to grow and cause far more destruction in the future. In this instance, Ted Kaczynski is absolutely correct regarding the fact that we must all come together as one unified vanguard to bring about the destruction of technological society and all of its byproducts.
To conclude, civilization and technological society are becoming an increasingly devastating burden on the earth, the biosphere, and the natural world. This devastation has grown to the point where we have no other choice but to abolish its sources completely. At this point, we have a choice to make. Will we continue on this destructive path until there is nothing left, eventually leading to our own extinction? Are we as a species willing to unite against the forces that have continuously destroyed the planet beyond recognition? I’m not sure about the other 7.5 billion people on Earth, but I believe that the latter would be our best option.
