R&D@Unity connects across several, global locations, bringing together talent from around the world. We continually strive to make our recruitment process as valuable, interesting and fair as possible. By standardizing the format of our interview process and supporting each candidate through each stage, we hope to provide every candidate with the opportunity to join one of our amazing teams.

Getting Started

Sometimes you will find us, but sometimes we will find you. We keep all of our open positions posted on our careers site, as well as local job boards for all locations, ready to be found during your next job search. We know that not all great opportunities are obvious, and therefore employ a team of Technical Sourcers who seek out exceptional talent to add to our teams.

At Unity, the interview process truly begins once you have spoken with your Recruiter — at least that’s the beginning of the fun part. At this stage you will be introduced to your Recruiting Coordinator, who will set-up each step of the hiring process and guide you through your interview and onboarding experience. Firstly you will meet your Hiring Manager, in most instances your future leader and mentor. This an opportunity for us to get to know each other and more deeply explore the role and team. We encourage you to ask loads of questions! But don’t worry, if you forget to ask something important, you will always have another chance.

Main Event

After you have aced this stage, for most roles, you will be set a technical assignment run by our partner Codility. These are hand-picked exercises designed to give you the opportunity to show off your skills and get a true feel for the type of task the role entails. You will have time to discuss this challenge and your solutions, with the team, during the next stage.

Once your Codility Challenge is wrapped, it’s time to jump to the best part, meeting Unity people! This is when you will meet a selection of team members, leaders, peers, and often, Unity employees from adjoining departments. This stage of the process revolves around your technical capabilities and relative experience, as well as our Unity Values (Users first, Best ideas win, In it together, Go bold). You will have a second meeting with your Hiring Manager, to review the interview process and ask any burning questions that remain unanswered. Traditionally, this is also the time for a studio tour… however, within Covid-19 times, this is impossible. Despite that, we still share an insight into our beautiful spaces and studio culture. We hope that you share our desire to work remotely until it is entirely safe to return to the office.

Final Pieces

We now reach the final step… referencing. At Unity, we always take references before making any offer. Of course, we understand that you may not wish for your current employer to be contacted for a reference, which is absolutely okay, we can speak to your previous companies. In all cases, we aim to collect references from two managers and two peers.

As soon as all the admin is completed, you will receive your offer and you will be good to go! If necessary, we will assist with visa application and relocation before you join us, ensuring you are absolutely ready to be brought onboard.
