Vivox joined Unity in 2019. While Vivox was already a leader in the game communications space, joining forces with Unity opens a door to a larger community of creators hungry for tools and techniques to power the social aspects of their online games.

As part of the Multiplayer Suite, Vivox is committed to making communications about more than just talking and typing. We’re building the tools that let you build communities and player relationships that are rich, inclusive and safe. Combined with the excellent services offered in the Multiplayer Suite, it’s a powerful communications platform for creators to build an awesome connected game in any engine.

Our Montreal space

To get there, we need you! While the technology challenges are exciting and large, the humans that make up Vivox are kind, smart, humble, and driven. One of our team leads, Thom, puts it really well:

Working at Unity is the opportunity of a lifetime. It’s not because I get to wake up every morning and work on the most challenging technical problems I’ve experienced. It’s not because my work gets used by millions of people around the world. It’s not because Unity offers me the opportunity to grow broadly, to expand and apply my skills in areas that I didn’t know I could. All of that is a great part of the job, of course, but I work at Unity because of the culture, the people, and the values. I can’t imagine a more supportive working environment.

And Emily follows on with:

As a software engineer and a gamer geek, I have been able to not only exponentially expand my technical knowledge, but be a part of the other side of development for some of my favorite products, such as the Nintendo Switch and Playstation! Even the Vivox product itself is a fantastic piece of technology and very fun to use. Various features like Speech to Text and the vast array of platform support allow for very intriguing development and testing.

The engineering department also offers weekly spelunking sessions, where developers will discuss various aspects of our technology in depth. At Vivox, you’re constantly learning new things and furthering your career. Even outside of these sessions, everyone is kind and quick to answer questions. From engineering to product to live ops, there’s always someone to offer assistance when you need it.

Our new Framingham office entrance

Vivox is spread across the globe with folks in the Unity offices in Framingham, Montreal, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and beyond. While we are working in a safe way currently, we have comfortable and productive space waiting for us when we’re ready. Though we’re physically distant, we’re still connecting and having non-work experiences.

When you’re not pounding away at your keyboard, there are plenty of fun events sponsored by the company, for example: a chocolate tasting, painting portraits of your pets event, composting seminar, and even a beer tasting “training”! These events are extremely fun and everyone attending has an awesome attitude. The best part is that these events have been hosted virtually! Guest speakers will call over Zoom and event materials are sent directly to your house! Our Workplace Experience team is extremely dedicated and really does a fantastic job!
