The Future of Jobs

Do you think that you are too smart to have your job taken away by a robot? Think again.

You may be intelligent, you may have received a college degree from one of the best universities in the country, and you may now have what you think to be a stable job. You also may feel as though nothing could change that. Think again.

But what would you say if this job were to suddenly disappear? How could this happen? The truth is that robots can do even your highly technical, specialized job better and faster than you can, thus making your job obsolete.

“All of these issues are really cutting-edge in terms of what’s going to happen, and at the end of the day, nobody knows exactly what will happen. You are looking at predictions and forecasts. If you look back through history, economists and technologists have made predictions and you work on assumptions, and things don’t always exactly evolve the way people think they will evolve. But with that said, I think it is safe to say the workplace is going to continue to become more automated, more technology-driven, more robotics will be put in place.” -Don Cunningham, President of Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation
