Apple Watch & iPhone 6, A Let Down?

My kids will often use the phrase “wait for it … wait for it” when they are about to unleash a “kid war” of epic proportions.

Yesterday I was surprisingly happy about the Apple Live Event. It has been a while since we saw an unveiling of new products like we did yesterday. And the bringing back of the phrase “one more thing” was a nice classic acknowledgement that Apple still knows it can somewhat surprise and delight.

I read yesterday that there was nothing really exciting about the Apple Watch or iPhone 6 because it already had been done. “They didn’t break any new ground here” was one quote I read. I think a lot of people are forgetting that Apple is not a “leader” when it comes to product creation, they are “fast followers” [with some limited exceptions].

Yup, Samsung has a big phone and a wearable, but Apple did what it always does, it innovates the groundwork others have laid out and designs a product how it should be designed. Apple knows its people [users]. It knows how to take an idea and make it better.

Let’s not forget the iPod. It wasn’t the first MP3 player, but what they built was an entire ecosystem that continues to have hooks into our everyday lives.

So, I say … “wait for it … wait for it”; there is way more to come.
