We are thrilled to announce that OmiseGO has joined the Universal Protocol Alliance.
OmiseGO will prove to be a crucial UP alliance member with their unstoppable financial infrastructure that they have built since the early days of crypto. They join the other members of the Universal Protocol Alliance, including Bittrex Global, Cred, Uphold, Brave, Blockchain at Berkeley, and CertiK, in advancing our mission to create a platform that will drive mass adoption of crypto.
As part of this partnership, OmiseGO has also announced the incorporation of the UP native token, UPT, into their payment processing network. This will allow for users of their blockchain payment processing technology to use UPT to pay for fees on the network.
“OmiseGO has been an innovator in the blockchain space for many years and continues to push the boundaries of financial infrastructure,” said Dan Schatt, CEO of the Universal Protocol Alliance and President of Cred. “They fit in perfectly with the incredible companies that are coming together to form the UP Alliance and drive mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. In addition, they are the first company to announce their integration with UPT token, which we are excited to build out as the first universal utility token of the realm.”
OmiseGO’s announcement to begin utilizing UPT marks the first milestone of our vision for UPT becoming the utility “token of the realm.”
