September’s monthly report focuses on the rollout of UPXAU, with a quick sneak preview of some exciting updates we have ahead for October.
In September, Universal Protocol continued its launch and rollout of Universal Gold (UPXAU) — with the government-guaranteed tokenization of gold reaching #5 on Uphold’s exchange by the end of the month. This represents a major milestone for the UP Alliance, but also the future of tokenized digital assets.
Universal Gold (UPXAU) is an ERC20 gold-token that represents 1oz of physical gold that has zero custody fees, instant settlement into 27+ national currencies, and can also be redeemed for physical gold at the Perth Mint in Australia. UPXAU is collateralized on a 1:1 basis by an Infinigold GoldPass Certificate, which is audited by UP Alliance member CertiK.
UPXAU is an achievement in the democratization of digital assets because it allows anyone, anywhere in the world, to easily invest in the world’s oldest asset. Universal Protocol will soon be releasing more details for UPXAU’s use cases with UPT and expanding upon other use cases for UPT.
Our goal as an alliance is to accelerate the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies by introducing the safeguards and protections that are expected of financial assets. UPXAU represents our latest efforts at achieving this mission.
At the end of September, the Universal Protocol Alliance met to discuss the addition of new members to the Alliance. Soon in October, we will be announcing the addition of 2 new members that will expand and enhance the Universal Protocol Platform. Stay tuned!
