4 Best Restaurants to Eat at on Green Street, Champaign IL

Champaign is the ultimate college town with a diverse food scene that rivals many larger cities. If you’re looking to be satisfied with the food while touring, or on extended visits such as Homecoming Weekend and basketball games, this article is for you. Here are my top 5 favorite places to eat on Green Street:

1- Bangkok Thai

Hands down best Thai in the Chambana area for the quality and flavor of the food. Bangkok Thai serves large portions of delicious Thai cuisine for a reasonable price. They give you an option to pick a spice level from 1 to 6 so you can order it mild to super hot. Not a super fancy restaurant, but Bangkok Thai is perfect for a quick lunch and leftovers that will last days.

2- Shawarma Joint

One of the tastiest places to eat at. The food is delicions, fast, and fresh middle eastern fare with portions that lasts two meals. Unlike most mediterranean restaurants, Shawarma Joint uses some spices which make it more tasty. For one bowl, you receive an immense amount of food with pita for a reasonable price. Shawarma Joint is one of the bet Halal options in town.

3- Spoon House

If you crave authentic Korean food, Spoon House is the perfect place to go. They serve Kimchi for free as an appetizer and offer many more delicious selections. The food is made to order fresh and hot once you take a bite. Spoon House if perfect and convenient if you want a roll of kimbap.

4- Maize Mexican Grill

Best place in campus town to get authentic Mexican food. The burritos and tacos are super fresh and the rice is flavorful. The only downside is the cramped location and crowds of people cramming through the door. Though they aren’t a super fancy place, they do everything well. Maize is a must try when visiting UIUC.
