Song Review: Freaky Deaky by Tyga & Doja Cat
Tyga and Doja Cat dropped a new collaboration on February 25th titled, “Freaky Deaky”, and it is an instant hit.
The duo first collaborated back in 2019 when Doja recruited Tyga for a remix of “Juicy”. While I personally prefer the original, the song did wonders for Doja’s career, becoming her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. The single debuted at #83 and later on peaked at #41. It is also currently certified 2x PLATINUM in the US.
Tyga has now recruited Doja Cat for his upcoming album with a pop rap track and he was smart for doing so because Doja carries the track heavily. The song centers around the duo’s preferences in bed and is fueled by numerous sexual references.
It begins with Doja Cat’s soft singing voice, wishing for her partner to be with her:
“I’ve been feelin’ freaky deaky/You’re on your way to see me/Got the mirror on the ceiling/You’re in the mood to please me”
The chorus alone is infectious and catchy, allowing leeway for it to be picked up on Tik Tok, a video social media platform that is arguably the reason for many of Doja’s songs to become hits, and this one is on its way too!
Tyga then raps about what he plans on doing with his partner, coming up with some smooth lines:
“Let me slide in it, Wayne Gretzky (Ayy)/Let me see it bounce like a jet ski, ayy (Ayy)/I know you wishing he was like me (Like me)/Late night, callin’ me for some good D, ayy”
The best portion of the track is Doja’s rap as her wordplay stays undefeated amongst her peers. Here are my personal favorite lines that came from the rap princess:
“See, that’s my type, I’ma cop flights (Hey)/You could break her back and I can put it on rice”
“He don’t want an ‘If’ or an ‘And,’ just butt/Don’t give me a ‘Miss’ or a ‘Ma’am,’ just ‘Slut’”
Overall, the single is very cute and I can see it doing wonders on Tik Tok and becoming a small anthem for the summer once it picks up.
