Our campus is full of spaces that you can visit to relax, get your head down to study or work, or meet up with friends or colleagues.

Over in School of Law is this cool lounge, with warm panelling and full length windows. With tables, settees and comfy chairs, it’s a lovely spot to take a breather from your studies, or lunch with friends. If you’re a law student, then you’ll be able to use the computers in here too.

Down in Environment, you’ll find these comfy chairs and sofas, surrounded by amazing photographs taken by members of the school. If you get here at a quiet time, it’s a perfect space to concentrate if you’re studying, or catching up with friends.

Ssshhh… want to know a secret? Hidden away in Michael Sadler is a real undiscovered location that’s often really quiet and perfect for taking time out of your day for a while. With vending machines, computers, decent chairs and tables, you’ll be able to spend an hour here without interruption. Just don’t tell anyone about it, right?

The grand-pillared halls of Parkinson Court make it a special place to relax, people-watch or spend some well-deserved time with your friends at lunch. If you’re lucky, there’s often interesting things to see such as the “Eye on Asia” photographic exhibition, or if you’ve got the time, definitely have a mooch around the two galleries in here — they’re free, fascinating and constantly changing.

Made plans to catch up with your friends, only to find that you’ve got an hour to kill before their lecture finishes? This lounge in Chemistry is just the job for chilling and catching up on that reading before the afternoon lectures.

If you’re at the top of campus, you may already know about this great spot in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Brightly lit with plenty of seats, it’s ideal for hanging out with friends, or reading through lecture notes.

One of our favourite hidden spaces, this is Baines Wing and was designed with School of Healthcare students to provide a relaxing sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of University life. Interesting pictures on the wall, a flat screen telly and dim lighting make this a real gem.

The newly refurbished union has so many different places that we could have done a whole feature on it. However, head downstairs and you’ll find plenty of spaces to meet up, chat with friends or beanbags to relax on. There’s also a few handy microwaves down here, perfect for heating up last night’s pasta!

We’re in the glass entrance to Business School, and the bright, airy space is a nice one to hang out with your friends on lunch, and with the cafe just next door it’s perfect for eating your lunch, catching up on social media or just sitting and watching the world go by.

As you can see, there are quite a few great social spots on campus, but those above are some of our favourite, what are yours?
