Sustainability is at the heart of the University of Leeds. That’s why we’d like to encourage you to travel to open day using the various sustainable transport options available.

Parking on campus is only available for blue badge holders who email to book in advance. Our campus is close to the city centre and Leeds has excellent public transport connections, so why not use on of the sustainable and stress free methods below?

BY TRAIN

Leeds has connections with all major UK cities, visit The Trainline for details.

We run a free bus service from Leeds Train Station to campus for open day visitors. The first bus leaves the station at 8.30am, buses then run every 15 minutes through the day and the last bus departs campus from outside the Laidlaw Library at 5pm.

Student ambassadors, wearing red t-shirts, will be in the train station’s main entrance area until 2pm on open days to help direct you.

If you’d like to walk to campus, walking maps can be collected from the student ambassadors at the train station. The walk usually takes 20 minutes and is through the city centre.

BY COACH

For coach details, visit the National Express website. Most coaches arrive to Leeds Bus Station. The number 6 bus runs from the bus station to the Parkinson Building, outside the University’s main entrance.

BUS TRAVEL

Leeds has excellent bus connections. Routes running between the University’s main entrance at the Parkinson Building and the city are: 1, 6, 28, 56 and 97. For more details, including route maps visit West Yorkshire Metro.

PARK AND RIDE

For open day a park and ride service runs from Temple Green and Elland Road. These services drop off at Boar Lane in the city centre which is a short walk from the train station. For more information about park and ride in Leeds, see West Yorkshire Metro’s website.

BY CAR

If you’re unable to travel using any of the above methods, driving might be your only option. Due to the high number of visitors we cannot offer car parking on campus for open days, except for blue badge holders who book in advance.

Nearby city centre car parks and key roads are busy on open days. Leeds Travel Info can be used to check available parking spaces on the day. Leave plenty of time to find a parking space and walk to campus.

Postcodes for the closest city car parks are:

  • Woodhouse Lane multi-storey LS2 3AX
  • Merrion Centre LS2 8NG
  • St Johns Centre (NCP) LS2 8LQ
  • The Light LS1 8TL

PARKING FOR BLUE BADGE HOLDERS

We have limited spaces reserved for blue badge holders. If you are a blue badge holder and require parking, please include this on your registration form. Please note we cannot guarantee requests for blue badge parking received less than 5 days before an event. For queries about blue badge parking, please email opendays@leeds.ac.uk.
