Here at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, we have numerous entrepreneurship opportunities ranging from majors, competitions, and even designated Recognized Student Organizations (RSO). Nebraska is the perfect place to launch you into your future as an entrepreneur!

Center for Entrepreneurship

The Center for Entrepreneurship fosters innovation and ultimate collaboration for any and all Husker students. Here, students, mentors, and professors aid in your development during any and all stages of entrepreneurial growth. Students are given the unique opportunity to study specific majors, enroll in classes, and present their ideas in showcase competitions (which are open to ALL Husker students). The Center for Entrepreneurship also hosts the Entrepreneurship Catalyst Program which provides first-year students of any major to receive a $1,000 scholarship and valuable resources to explore entrepreneurship. It doesn’t stop there — the Center of Entrepreneurship also offers one-on-one coaching between professionals and students. This is exactly what your inventive spirit is looking for!

Engler

The Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program is designed to allow students to fulfill their purposes through ideation. The program believes in each individual, emphasizing personal “unique, lifelong missions.” Students who are looking to solve global problems turn to Engler. When joining the “real world” after graduation, Engler entrepreneurs seek to improve the lives of those around them as well as in their communities. Get your hands dirty right off the bat and change the world with Engler.

Nebraska Extension Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programs

The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources has two paths in the Nebraska Extension Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. One is crafted for K-12 highlighting the importance of early education. The K-12 path offers a variety of curriculum packages including such experiences as Tinker, Explore, Create (TEC) boxes to introduce creativity into young minds. On the other hand, the program for adults provides brave minds the ability to experiment in such things like the Maker Movement. Here, there are opportunities for everyone!

National Food Entrepreneur Program

The Food Processing Center, located on Nebraska Innovation Campus, is THE spot to bring “recipe to reality.” The Center has been around since 1989 and has given entrepreneurs the ability to bring dreams of building food companies to life. The Food Entrepreneur Program focuses on the creative strategy behind creating a business. Beginning with an informative seminar, brilliant minds will then walk through confidential services and continued support as you get your start in entrepreneurship. We can’t wait to see what you get to cooking after this adventure!

RSOs

If you are looking to build your skillsets as a self-starter alongside a community of students, Nebraska also has RSOs for you! Groups such as StartupsUNL, Women+ in Entrepreneurship, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, and more. We can’t wait to cheer you on along the way and champion your successes as an entrepreneur! Get involved, step outside of your box, and learn from the imaginative world around you. The world is your oyster, Huskers!
