Using web and mobile technology to improve consumption habits
Nice to meet you all!
I am a Business Engineer with an MBA from the European School of Management and Business of Madrid. I have worked in Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Spain with a focus in innovation processes, external management of relationships with any kind of organization or stakeholder, project and web apps management. I have been a speaker at numerous conferences throughout the world, as well as in international summits in Poland, Egypt and Turkey, among others.

During the past 7 years I´ve been the head and leader of the company called Verdéate, which develops web and mobile technology that enables a cultural changing process within organizations or out in the community, in order to improve consumption habits, creating verified environmental positive impacts (such as co2, kwh, water, paper, waste reductions) and real economic savings. As the CEO, I am responsible for the overall operation and planning of the company, its business development and client acquisition. The participation of the company in external events and key networks and the overall management of the finances, were also under my responsibility and watch.
We have received under my direction 11 awards and recognitions. Two times by the United Nations as best app to promote sustainable practices (link 2011, link 2010), one time by the OAS as best innovative project in the region (link), one time by the EU as nominee for best communicational project in Europe (link) and one time by Katerva, as one of the 50 most innovative solutions for sustainability in the world (link).

Nevertheless, probably the most important award we have received was the Americas Innovator award (link), which nominated and awarded us in the Sustainability and Ecology category. The jurors of the prize for the category justified the selection of “Verdéate” with the following comment: “The innovation represents an important advancement to create incentives to reduce superfluous consumption and promote the culture of responsible consumption. The innovation is addressed to a wide spectrum of organizations, from the private sector to NGOs, and focuses in the urban areas where most of the population and consumption tends to concentrate. The use of digital tools and software development facilitates its use through different means of communication and makes it attractive to the young. We found great impact, relevance and innovation in the cultural process Verdéate detonates leveraging in the power of technology. This combination of approach of a key problem to sustainability as is responsible consumption, its wide potential for use especially in the urban areas, and its accessibility to digital means are the determinant factors that made us choose it as the winner of the prize”.
