UNLEASH, The Confluence of Minds: Lets Create a Healthier World
With the population pyramid getting top heavy w.r.t the age demographics, sustainability as a practice was never more needed than NOW. This holds true for all streams, social causes and industries as the average age of human beings is on the rise and competition for resources is increasing. I feel that forms the economic spine of United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).
Amidst such backdrop has came into existence — UNLEASH. Needless to say the impact this will have for the way its getting conducted pooling together few hundreds of cross industry experts, innovative minds, young entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, Dreamers and most importantly Doers with a heart to serve humanity and the zeal to contribute to change the world for better. Major innovative disruptions in the history of mankind have come at the confluence of two industries/domains/streams from cross pollination of ideas, hence UNLEASH LAB has the potential to undoubtedly be a gala of its own kind and be Darwin’s “soup of creation”.
While practicing medicine in India during rural postings, I realised that HEALTH FOR ALL will remain a dream until clubbed with fast spreading technology as doctor to patient ratio is unlikely to perfect in near future especially in developing countries. That gave inspiration to look out for different ways to enable health for more people than to those as a doctor and I took a plunge into entrepreneurial ventures, Japan India Industry Promotion Association and thereon Quereq Corporation — Business Development(Go To Market) and Supply Chain Consultancies. Though Healthcare being just a subset of those, both were enablers to inculcate Business and Economic ways of building scalable and sustainable solutions for various sectors at cross national level.
Post my MBA, I got an opportunity to work precisely to develop socially impacting healthcare solutions such as Remote Patient Monitoring and TeleMedicine using Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning for a leading Indian MNC. These were aimed at realising concept of Virtual clinics encompassing Patient Adherence and Patient Support Programs achieving affordability and accessibility. Having developed good understanding of technology more as a tool to facilitate transfer of value to the masses, I feel there is a pressing need to develop interoperable platform for data exchange across disparate devices/platforms/mediums(EMRs, Telemedicine, FitBit like, clinical trial data, etcetera) — that would empower all the data flow across various devices and stakeholders(*IoT based devices are to cross a Trillion by 2020). I feel this could change the way we look at healthcare enabling under-developed and ill-equipped regions to leap frog enhancing the power of widely deployed communication devices. This would eventually help not just proper and efficient use of Patient data but also saving cost by enabling more efficient drug discoveries shifting focus from cure to prevention and hopefully to wellness.
Modern World Landscapes are changing faster than ever before and so is the need to anticipate and prepare for the change. Cant wait to let the extravaganza at UNLEASH LAB 2017 to begin expecting to learn/exchange/collaborate and create many “AHA” moments with fellow UNLEASHers.
