Photography is persistence, persistence and then some patience.

With this issue I had in mind to encompass a diverse range of projects to explore various aspects of interest. I wished for you — the viewer — to develop your own understanding of the represented projects. They are different and have not much in common, yet I was drawn to them because of their differences. I have to confess it was a trickier then usual issue to put together, but the images themselves inspired a dialogue of the past and present, while challenging my notions of my own experience.

In UYW 25 we travel through the microscopic details of bugs, to fairytales and history. Pulling together different fields of interest can break us away from questions of definition.
Sometimes, when we look at images, we try to interpret them and the ideas behind their making. We look for similarities, meaning, and a story that leads us to discover the situation invented.

While this collection may appear at first random, the closer you look, the more you find that each series invites the absence of language. I want to invite you to a space in which to meditate upon the images. I am of the belief that great photography has to speak to the heart, activate the emotions — engage, and invite the viewer to pause.

This issue is a reflection of how different fields of experimentation grow into fascinating research projects, incorporating layers of insight and thought.
