Welcome to the Trunk Club technology blog! Future home of thoughtful blog posts on our tech culture as well as engineering, product, and design initiatives.

Trunk Club isn’t exactly new. In fact, we’ve been around since 2009. Yep, that’s a solid decade, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped innovating. Like most tech companies, change at Trunk Club is almost constant. The aim of this blog is to share how the technology team at Trunk Club navigates this change, including our successes and failures along the way. We have a lot of great content lined up to share in 2020 and beyond, but before we officially kickoff the new year, we wanted to share a few things we are working on!

Being Intentional About Our Culture

We think that Trunk Club is a great place to work, largely in part due to our tech culture. In the coming year we’ll be putting a lot of effort into being intentional about our culture to ensure it remains inclusive, collaborative, and ultimately a place we all love to work.

What does it mean to be intentional about culture?

At Trunk Club, we are always striving to make things better. Whether it’s for our customers, our stylists, or our technologists, there’s always room for improvement. So, while there are a lot of positives in our current culture, we are not satisfied resting on our laurels. One of the first things we want to do in 2020 is align on a set of “Tech Principles” that define what we think makes Trunk Club great. We plan to then use those principles to guide improvements in a variety of areas such as:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Hiring
  • Onboarding
  • Mentoring
  • Our apprentice program
  • Our career ladder

By taking intentional action to improve the above areas, we hope to preserve and improve upon our tech culture regardless of how our business evolves. Stay tuned to the Trunk Club technology blog for detailed looks into how we will tackle the above areas and more!

Expanding our technology footprint

The Trunk Club tech team will be expanding with a variety of new and interesting areas of focus!

Native Apps

Customer engagement beyond just getting a trunk is one area we’ll be focusing on in 2020 and what better place to facilitate that engagement than on a device that you always carry around with you? We’ll be growing our native app team(s) significantly in the new year to make it easier and more fun to engage in the styling-related services we offer.

Data Science

There’s a clear use for data science when it comes to personal styling and helping our stylists fill trunks with clothes our customers will love. Using data to make decisions is key to everything we do and we’ll be expanding our data science footprint to accommodate the ever-growing need to serve our customers better.

Operations / Service Focus

We’re renewing our commitment to developing tools to support a robust supply chain for our trunks and growing our partnerships with Nordstrom fulfillment, distribution, and omni centers. Additionally, we’re looking for opportunities to consolidate and enhance the experience of providing excellent customer service through new technology.

If any of the above sounds interesting to you, hop on over to www.trunkclub.com/careers/jobs to check out our current openings!
