Today, we’re starting a new monthly series focusing on wine recommendations. After we drink and taste many different wines at plenty of wine tasting events and dinners, we thought that we could feature our three, four, five favourite wines every month.

This monthly feature shares our personal preferences, which might not be to the taste of everyone. Our main objective really is to inspire 💡 wine drinkers and encourage everyone to be brave and look beyond their standard sip.

Pretty Pinot Bianco

  • Wine: Pinot Bianco, 2017
  • Producer: Cantina Bolzano
  • Region: Alto Adige, Italy 🇮🇹
  • Story:
Over dinner at the bar at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden, I had this refreshing Pinot Blanc from the very North of Italy, crisp and cool, just like the Alps .

Weird & wonderful Riesling

  • Wine: XU x Eva Fricke “Rose Mountain”, 2017
  • Producer: Eva Fricke
  • Region: Rheingau, Germany 🇩🇪
  • Story:
Not your average German Riesling, unique and interesting.
After a day of studying wine with Raul, I went with a fellow wine student for dinner to Xu Teahouse in Soho, where we ate delicious dishes and got introduced by the bartender and also by sommelier Max to a bespoke Riesling that the restaurant developed together with the winemaker to be a perfect match for Taiwanese flavours 🇹🇼.

Curious White Cuvee

  • Wine: Cuvee Bella Rada, 2016
  • Producer: Borovitza Winery
  • Region: Northwest, Danube Plain, Bulgaria 🇧🇬
  • Story:
A friend invited me to bring some leftover bottles of Bulgarian wines I ordered for a private tasting to her wine club.
This white wine made from 59 years old vines of the not so well-known grape variety Rkatsiteli (originally from Georgia 🇬🇪) and aged in Bulgarian oak barrels was a surprise to me and a true joy to drink, nicely concentrated and also a bit oily.

Scrumptious Zweigelt Blend

  • Wine: Zweigelt Blend, 2015
  • Producer: Weingut Heinrich
  • Region: Burgenland, Austria 🇦🇹
  • Story:
Another wine on the great wine list at Xu Teahouse in Soho, a beautiful red, lovely to drink and good with their food 🍽.

Sharing is Caring

We’re always happy to hear about new restaurants with great wine lists, newly opened wine bars in London or just a nice wine you discovered recently.

If you have any recommendations, please let us know 📢!
Either comment on here or get in touch via social media through Twitter @unscrewmeapp, Facebook UnscrewMe or Instagram @unscrewmeapp.

Learning is fun! So in our next article, we’ll be sharing a few of the wine podcasts we enjoy listening to most.

(While the wines listed above inspired me to write this, putting it all down in structured form was driven by coffee at Clerkenwell Grind and Dose Espresso at Google for Startups Campus London.)
