Together with the Kids In Need Foundation, we’re making sure students are set up for success.
Cost alone shouldn’t prohibit someone from getting what they need — whether that’s a prescription medication or a fair shot at a good education.
That’s why, for our most recent team-building activity, the Blink Health Marketing team volunteered its time to work with the Kids In Need Foundation. The Foundation works with donors and volunteers to distribute school supplies to students who would otherwise probably go without.
Why are new school supplies so important? According to the Foundation, when students have their own new supplies, self-esteem grows and behavior, engagement and even grades can improve. No kid should have to miss those opportunities because their families had to choose between supplies and paying for groceries, medications or other necessities.
So we got to work. First, we stuffed 100 new backpacks full of school supplies — and handwritten “good luck at school!” notes. Then, we joined other organizations at the District 18 Back to School Kick-Off event in Brooklyn to distribute the backpacks to kids and parents. See photos of the team at work.
We also spread the word about Blink Health and handed out unique savings codes to parents, so the families who attended the event knew about one more way to save money on a necessity.
Paul Avena, Director of Direct Mail Marketing, said of the event, “Saturday was such a beautiful day on many levels and I’m thankful that my team and I were able to be a part of it. Seeing the kids laugh and play with their friends made it all worthwhile. We look forward to participating again next school year.”
